CALL FOR PAPERS
International Conference on Information Systems Education and Research (ICISER 2025)
in conjunction with ICIS 2025, 13 – 14 Dec 2025 in Nashville, USA
An AIS Special Interest Group on Education (SIGED) International Conference
(held in-person and in hybrid format)
The Special Interest Group on Education (SIGED) of the Association for Information Systems (AIS) stands as a leading voice in the AIS community, recognized for its impactful contributions to the field of Education. While our original focus centered on how we educate in Information Systems (IS) and Information Technology (IT), the scope of our work has expanded significantly in response to the growing societal relevance of these fields.
Today, with the rapid emergence of artificial intelligence, data science, and digital transformation, we increasingly explore how IS/IT not only shapes education but also how education shapes the future of IS/IT. This evolving duality—educating of IS/IT and educating with IS/IT—forms the intellectual backbone of the SIGED-ICISER conference.
Aligned with the overarching theme of ICIS 2025, we also emphasize the importance of understanding and embracing the diverse backgrounds of our students. The theme of this year’s conference is:
Diversity and Inclusion in Information Systems (IS) Education
We invite scholars to submit papers that explore the central SIGED themes of educating of and with Information Systems and Information Technology (IS/IT), as well as topics that align with this year’s theme. Submissions are welcome across the following suggested areas — and beyond — reflecting the broad and evolving landscape of IS/IT education:
General IS Education topics:
- Skill Development for Future IS Professionals
Teaching essential skills like project management, stakeholder communication, change management, requirements analysis, and interdisciplinary teamwork. - Quality Assurance in IS Programs
Best practices for maintaining accreditation standards and continuous improvement in IS education programs. - Digital Tools and Platforms in IS Education
Exploring innovative technologies such as learning platforms, AI, blockchain, and IoT to personalize and enhance learning. - Emerging Competencies and Career Preparation
Preparing students for professional certifications and the evolving demands of the IS job market.
Theme-related topics:
- Pedagogical Innovations
Implementing and evaluating project-based learning, case methods, and other active learning strategies in IS education, specifically in relation to diversity and inclusion. - Global Perspectives on IS Education
Comparative studies and emerging trends in IS education across various cultures in different regions and educational systems. - Inclusive and Equitable IS Education
Addressing cultural diversity, underrepresented groups, and accessibility challenges in IS learning environments. - Ethics, Responsibility, and Social Impact
Incorporating ethical design, corporate social responsibility, and the societal role of IS professionals into curricula.
The above topic areas will promote an inclusive IS education that empowers stakeholders with the skills, knowledge, and ethical foundation needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving and diverse technological landscape.
The ICISER 2025 will feature keynote talks, panels, and workshops centered around our general theme, but also focusing on this year’s theme. Educators are invited to submit theoretical and empirical papers, descriptive case studies, opinion pieces, discussion papers, and proposals for panel discussions or tutorials related to the conference’s education theme.
According to the required Submission Style and Guidelines a
